The paper deals with the state of the healthcare system in the Komi ASSR on the eve of the Great Patriotic War. Based on the analysis of archival documents, including final reports on the organization of healthcare in the Komi ASSR in 1940, the paper demonstrates the application of individual regulations and assesses the functioning of regional healthcare in the pre-war period. Successes in the organization of medical care in the Komi ASSR and the problems that remained unresolved during the Soviet period are highlighted. Population size, morbidity, and mortality indicators are presented, and the epidemiological situation is characterized. The staffing availability is analyzed.
