Design of manuscripts.Articles are presented in a standard font (12 pt) typed on a computer. Manuscript pages, as well as tables and figures, must be numbered separately.

On the title page of the manuscript are printed: the title of the article, the initials and surname of all co-authors (separated by commas), the full name of the institution where the work was carried out, a brief abstract (∼150−200 words) in Russian and key words. At the bottom of the page, the email address of one of the authors is indicated (for communication), and an asterisk is placed next to his last name. If the study was carried out in different institutions, after the name of each co-author a reference is given in the form of a number indicating the institution where he works. A list of institutions is given after the names of all co-authors. It is advisable to use the names of sections of the annual subject index of the journal (published in No. 1) as keywords.
The English translation of the title of the article, the initials and surnames of all co-authors, and the names of institutions is provided on a separate sheet. It is also advisable to provide translations of special terms and the names of the authors of the effects and methods discussed. The main text should begin on the second page of the manuscript. It is recommended to divide the article into sections, starting it with an Introduction, outlining the statement of the problem, and ending with a Conclusion with a list of the main results of the work (it is advisable to avoid section numbering).

The text of the article must be carefully edited.

The dimension of quantities should be indicated, as a rule, using a slash (for example, cm/s, g/cm3, but the dimension of concentration should be written cm−3, not 1/cm3). The fractional part of the number is separated from the integer by a dot (for example, 3.1416). In scientific notation, such numbers are written as 1.3×10−2, not 1.3E-2. Approximate equality is denoted by the sign ≈ or ≃, equality in order of magnitude is denoted by the sign ∼ (usually used in the text), proportionality is denoted by the sign ∝. Only “quote marks” are used, not “quote marks”. The letter “e” is replaced with “e” everywhere, except for surnames and special cases.

Electronic version of the article.

The main text of the manuscript in LaTeX, TeX or TextOnly format with the attachment of separate files with drawings can be sent after the article has been accepted for publication. The style file is available on the journal's home page (hea.iki.rssi.ru/pazh) or on the publisher's website (http://pleiades.online/ru/authors/guidlines/prepareelectonic-version/tex-latex/). In some cases, it is possible to present the text in Microsoft Word for Windows format, if possible using the latest versions or the publisher's style file (http://pleiades.online/ru/authors/guidlines/prepare-electonic-version/style/). Requirements for additional materials files published in the electronic version of the journal are given at http://pleiades.online/ ru/authors/guidlines/prepare-electonic-version/supplementary-materials/ Prepared files must be sent to the editorial office at pazh@pleiadesonline.com.

Drawings. The article should not be overloaded with pictures. If there are several interconnected drawings, they should be rationally and economically arranged. It is necessary to draw scales on the coordinate axes, indicate what physical quantity is plotted on them, and its dimension. Reproduction of previously published drawings for illustrative purposes is not recommended.

When presenting observational data on graphs, it is advisable to show the magnitude of observation errors with dashes. Laconic captions are required for drawings. The figure itself should contain a minimum number of verbal symbols; explanations should be included in the captions or in the text of the article. Do not add a grid or gray background to the background of graphs and diagrams. The inscriptions on the illustration should not come into contact with any parts of it. The font size of the symbols should correspond to the expected final size of the drawing.

Illustration files should be named in such a way that it is clear which article they belong to and what order they are arranged in the text. Each file must contain one drawing.

Requirements for illustration files.

1. Illustrations must not have a resolution lower than 150 dpi. Recommended Resolution:
1.1. Halftones (color or grayscale) - 225–300 dpi.
1.2. Bitmap - 600–1200 dpi.
2. Illustrations should not be narrower than 8 cm (one column) or 17 cm (two columns).
3. Line thickness in illustrations should not be less than 0.5 pt.
4. It is advisable to prepare graphs, diagrams, diagrams in vector graphics editors (CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator) and provide them in the format of the program in which they were made (*.cdr, *.ai), or in *.eps format. Convert text to curves whenever possible.
5. For other illustrations, *.tiff, *.jpeg formats are desirable.
6. It is advisable to provide photographs in 2 versions. The first one corresponds to the original with all inscriptions and designations; the second is clean (no text, symbols, etc.). The desired file format is *.tiff, *.jpeg. The gray gradation in the photograph is allowed from 9 to 93%.
7. We do not recommend transmitting illustrations in DOC format. If this is still necessary, all illustrations in this format should be collected in one file.
8. It is prohibited to use spot shading in vector graphics programs, such as “Noise”, “Black&white noise”, “Top noise”.

Literature.References in the text to the cited literature are given in the form of the author's surname (for foreign authors in Russian transcription) and the year of publication of the work, with the addition of a letter when referring to several publications of a given author in the same year. If there are two authors, both surnames are indicated separated by a comma; if there are three or more co-authors, only the first surname is indicated with the addition of “etc.” It is advisable to include surnames in the text of the phrase; in cases where this is not possible, give them in parentheses.

The cited literature is listed under the heading “Bibliography” at the end of the article in alphabetical order of the first author’s surname in Russian. In the reference, the surnames and initials of eight authors are indicated, separated by commas, with the addition of “etc.” For authors of foreign publications, after the Russian transcription of one or two surnames or the surname of the first co-author with the addition of “etc.” The surnames and initials of eight authors are indicated in parentheses in the original spelling with the addition of “et al.”. After this, separated by a comma, the abbreviated name of the journal is given in the system of abbreviations used in “Letters to AJ”, volume, first page, year of publication. For books, indicate the surname and initials of the author (authors) or the editor, if it is a collection, the full title of the book, then in brackets the city and name of the publisher and the year of publication (for foreign books translated into Russian, information about the Russian edition should be provided). In references to articles published in conference proceedings, you must indicate the name of the conference, then in parentheses the editors, city, publisher, year of publication and the first page of the publication.

The following examples illustrate the above rules for citing literature:

1. Vikhlinin, Forman (A. Vikhlinin and W. Forman), Astrophys. J. 455, 109 (1995).
2. Gnedin O.Yu., Yakovlev D.G., Letters to Astron. magazine19, 280 (1993) [O.Yu. Gnedin, D. G. Yakovlev, Astron. Lett.19, 104 (1993)].

Peer Review Process

Articles submitted to the journal are usually sent to two reviewers for review; in some cases, additional reviewing is necessary. If the authors receive feedback from reviewers indicating the need to refine the article, the response must be received by the editors within a month. Otherwise, the article is considered to be taken back by the author. In case of rejection, the editors retain one copy of the article.

Astronomy Letters is a peer-reviewed journal. We use a one-way “blind” review form. The reviewers include over 100 internal and external experts (80% of them are external). The average time from the moment the manuscript was received by the editor until the first decision was made was 14 days in 2017; the time from the first decision to the acceptance of the manuscript for publication is 40 days. The number of rejected manuscripts was 41% in 2017. The final decision on publication of the manuscript is made by the editorial board.

Any invited reviewer who feels they lack the necessary qualifications or is unable to review a manuscript due to a conflict of interest should promptly inform the editor and decline the review offer. Reviewers should formulate their statements in a clear, reasoned and logical manner so that the authors can use them to improve the manuscript. It is necessary to completely exclude criticism aimed at the personalities of the authors. Reviewers should indicate in their review (i) any work that is relevant to the manuscript but has not been cited by the authors; (ii) anything that was reported in earlier publications but was not properly cited or identified in the work; (iii) any significant similarity or overlap with other (published or unpublished) manuscripts of which the reviewer is aware.

The response should contain not only a revised version of the article, but also a covering letter explaining what corrections were made and what comments from the reviewers the authors disagree with and why.
